Student Admissions, Outcomes, & Other Data

Pursuant to APA Implementing Regulation C-20, accredited Doctoral programs are required to provide potential students, current students and the public with accurate information on the program and with program expectations. The information provided herein is limited to the outcomes required for compliance with Implementing Regulation C-20.

1.Time to Completion

Over the last seven years, the average time to completion for PsyD students is 4.6 years (median= 5.5). The breakdown of time-to-completion for graduates over the last seven years is as follows:

Less than 5 years 69.4%

5 years 21.0%

6 years 6.0%

7 years 1.2%

More than 7 years 2.4%

The trend in recent years has been toward longer time-to-completion as Forest doctoral students have transitioned to a 4+1 curriculum plan. While 40% of the 2010 graduating class completed the program in less than 5 years, 84% completed their degree in 5 years or less.

2.Program Cost of Attendance (1st year)

Costs per student for the current first year cohort are presented in Table 2.1.

Note: The COA for the PsyD degree program is based on a per-credit-hour tuition rate of $730 and follows the typical full-time curriculum schedule as presented in the catalog; there is no tuition differential for part-time students. Institutional fees charged each semester of enrollment are included in the COA above and are set at $550 for full-time students and $275 for part-time students.

3. Internship Placement Success

Students pursuing a PsyD at Forest experience success in internship across the U.S. each year. As of September,2011, 29 of 32 students (91%) participating in the internship placement process in 2010-11 had achieved full-time placement for the 2011-12 academic year; 84% of students who submitted ranks through the APPIC process in the 2010-11 application cycle were matched in either Phase I or Phase II. All placements were fully funded, and all placements were at APPIC member sites, 34% of which were also APA-accredited. Internship stipends for these students ranged from $16,500 to $52,852, with an average of $21,858 and a median of $18,000.

Placements achieved in the 2010-11 application cycle represent the following settings and experiences:

41% Consortium

17% Community Mental Health Center

14% Military Medical Center

10% Private Outpatient Clinic

7% Private Psychiatric Hospital

7% Correctional Facility

4% State or County Hospital

Additional outcomes related to the success of Forest students in the internship application and placement process are displayed in Table 3.1.
