How To Request
Articles
If you are in a library database ...
- Look first for a PDF or HTML symbol in the library database record.
An HTML or PDF symbol indicates that the full text of the article is available to you immediately. Click on the link to view the full text or open the PDF file.
- No symbol?
Click on the Check 360 Link for Full Text icon to see if the article is available in another resource.
- 360 Link says holdings not available?
For citations from an EBSCO database, click on the Create ILL Request link. Enter all required data and submit your request to ILL.
For citations from a ProQuest, Gale or Sage database, e-mail the citation to ILL. This will save you the trouble of re-entering all the citation details in the online ILL form.
- In a hurry and can't wait for ILL?
Your article might be available full text on the open Web. Use a search engine like Google to search for the article title (as a phrase). Another option is to search for the journal title. The journal's official web page may allow you to search article archives. Navigate to the proper year, volume number, issue number and article title. Click on any links provided.
Search the SWAN Catalog for the journal title from your citation to determine if a nearby library owns the journal in print or electronically. Then visit the Library to obtain the article.
If you have a citation from a footnote or reference list ...
- Search for the article using the Citation Linker (see example) or search for the journal title from the citation using the E-Journal Portal (see help page).
- No holdings available according to the Citation Linker or the E-Journal Portal?
Complete the online ILL form to request your article on ILL.

- Not in the Forest catalog? Expand your search to View All Collections in SWAN, then search MOBIUS.
- If the title is available, request the book through SWAN or MOBIUS.
- If the title is NOT available, request the chapter by clicking on the ILL request form link in the library database where you found the original citation or e-mail the database citation to the library.
