Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy

The Master of Arts in MFT (MAMFT) is a degree-granting program that is separate from other degree programs at Forest Institute. Students enrolled in the MA in MFT program may not be enrolled in another master's program at Forest Institute, but may be dually enrolled as MA/PsyD students. Though a separate degree, the MA in MFT is still administered through the academic and clinical training milieu at Forest Institute. Required coursework and supervision in the MA in MFT program are led by the clinical faculty at Forest Institute, who represent areas of expertise in both clinical psychology and marriage and family therapy. This partnership is seen as a strength for both students in the MA in MFT program and for students enrolled in other programs at Forest Institute.

Most full-time master's students will require two years to complete the program. Course sequencing should be discussed with the Program Director at the time of the yearly transcript review. Part-time students should carefully observe course sequence and offerings to ensure timely completion of the program. Students should note that practicum, once begun, must be continuous until completion.
